Why is Berkshire pork considered premium quality?

Berkshire pork is considered the Wagyu of pork due to its high intramuscular fat (marbling), deep pink color, and rich umami flavor. This marbling makes the meat tender, juicy, and more flavorful than conventional pork. Additionally, Berkshire pigs are often pasture-raised with high-quality, natural diets, which further enhances their taste and texture.

What makes Berkshire pigs different from other breeds?

Berkshire pigs are a heritage breed known for their superior meat quality, rich marbling, and juicy tenderness. Unlike commercial pig breeds, Berkshires have a darker, more flavorful pork that resembles fine beef in texture. They are also prized for their fast growth rate, strong immune systems, and ability to thrive in pasture-based environments. Their natural outdoor lifestyle and diverse diet contribute to the exceptional taste and nutritional quality of their meat.

What are the health benefits of pasture raised pork?

The health benefits of pasture raised pork include it being higher in nutrients, absent of harmful additives, and better omega-3 fatty acids. The omega-3 fatty acids make for a more heart healthy option that also reduces inflammation. We do not use any antibiotics like a conventional pig farm. The pastured pork is packed with more iron, zinc, and B vitamins.
